Thank You!!

Northside Summer Market was a great day and we could not have pulled it off without the help of our volunteers, sponsors, our participating art vendors, grantees and festival attendees.  With that, we would like to personally thank:

Humble Monk and Bertke Electric for hosting us this year.  THANK YOU!

Thank you to our grantees for activating the neighborhood as well as the main location.  Those participating organizations include:  NoteAble, Madcap Puppets, The Adventurer, Wave Pool, Fourthwall Youth Studios, Cincinnati Community ToolBank.  Thank you again to those individual artists who received collaborative grants including Douglas Borntrager, Lucia Jackson, Abby Friend, Debra Randall, Meredith Shockley-Smith, Tim'm West, Rick Wolf, Casey Dressell and Matthew Grote.

Thank you to our performers on the NoteAble stage including the NoteAble Youth Guitar Ensemble, Emily Ash, Om Srivastava and David Corns.

Thank you to our artists and vendors as well as everyone who attended the market and made the day a success!

Thank you to our amazing team of volunteers who helped put this event together.  We truly could not have done it without you.

And finally, thanks again to all of our partners and sponsors — John Hall Body Shop, Schaepher's Pharmacy, Northside Community Council, and The City of Cincinnati's Neighborhood Support Program!

We look forward to seeing you next year.

The NoteAble Stage at Northside Summer Market 2018

This years Northside Summer Market will include a community stage with programming by
NoteAble.  Performances will begin at noon and will include acts by four Cincinnati based groups with a wide range of musical personas.

The first performance will be given by the NoteAble youth guitar ensemble.  With its roots in Northside, NoteAble cultivates strong minds and communities by providing free, daily, ensemble-based music education to Cincinnati youth.  They will be performing music arranged from all around the globe.

The second performance will be given by Emily Ash.  A singer, student and activist based in Cincinnati, Ohio, Emily is deeply passionate about exploring the infinite number of different ways in which we experience personhood.

Om Srivastava will be performing third.  He is a world musician who incorporates sound and concepts of North Indian rhythm in performance.  He is the recipient of the 2015 IndianRaga Fellowship and has performed alongside Grammy-nominated guitarist Fareed Hague at the Lincoln Center.

Lastly, attendees will encounter the wonderfully mellifluous styling of Dreams of Surfing, David Corn's solo project.  Bringing together chill electronics and beachscapes, Dreams of Surfing creates a new and unique type of dance music.

The Creative Corner at Blue Rock & Apple ...Northside Summer Market's new central location!

We’re excited to scale back …while scaling up!

If you’re part of our online community, you already know that we’re expanding this year’s event by offering a number of micro-grants to artists and community members to help us activate the neighborhood during Northside Summer Market. Welcoming others and showing love for Northside are the most important pieces of this event, so this is our first step in expanding those goals.

Still, if you’ve been to our art fair in past years, you may agree that finding the best access point to the street festival has been our biggest challenge. True, we typically host things on Hoffner Street — which is only one block south of Blue Rock (one of the neighborhood’s primary cross streets). But with Hoffner Park being one block north, our exact location was always somewhat confusing.

With that in mind, we began searching for a new location, since we knew our property would be under construction and that we’d be re-thinking & re-formatting the art fair for the next year two.

Well…

We are now proud to announce our new beginning! With the help of Bertke Electric and Humble Monk Brewing Company, we’re hosting The Creative Corner in their shared parking at Blue Rock & Apple Street (catty-corner to Hoffner Park).  It’s a smaller space than the street (obviously), but our hope is that it will allow us to reset and continue growing the central location from a more visible spot. Their you'll be able to find good food, good beer, good music and creative vendors selling their handmade items!

Thanks again to our artists, musicians, DJs, and fellow non-profits!  We’re excited for all of this year's transitions and how we'll be able to build from each new starting point!

See you August 4th!!

Respectively,
Team NSM
